Our Milestones

Hyundai Engineering & Construction Company is founded by Chung Ju Yung.

1967

Hyundai Motor Company is formed.

The modern glass and steel building of Hyundai Precision America Incorporated in San Diego, CA, representing Hyundai Motor Company's expansion into transportation equipment and technological development.

1989

The Hyundai Motor Company broadened its core line of automobiles and established a subsidiary in San Diego, CA called Hyundai Precision America Incorporated to focus on transportation equipment.

Introduced steel containers and chassis.

Hyundai Translead is an ISO certified company.

1994

Launched dry van trailers and became the first manufacturer in North America to earn ISO 9001 Certification. This certification has been renewed each year, showing commitment to high standards and quality

Continued to push the boundry of innovation and was one of the first manufacturers to offer hot-dipped galvanization, prolonging durability of trailers.

A white Hyundai Translead HT ThermoTech refrigerated trailer, representing the company's investment and introduction of innovative reefer trailer technology (reefer truck, refer truck).

1999

Invested in reefers and introduced HT ThermoTech® refrigerated trailers.

Rebranded to Hyundai Translead to reposition itself as a new leader in the transportation industry.

Expanded to include a new transmission and engine remanufacturing facility.

Constructed a new multi-million-dollar, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, increasing the trailer production capacity, and catapulted the company into one of the major manufacturers in the industry.

2007

Enhanced dry van trailer models and added HT Composite® trailers with extended scuff for better protection.

2012

Invested in sustainability and eco-friendly products, which led to receiving the EPA Smartway Certification for three advanced trailer skirt models.
